Under 7's and Under 8's
Practice "tag rugby". Here a fabric tag is attached via velcro to their shorts and the object is to remove the tag off the person with the ball rather than tackle. This gives a great introduction to the game, ball handling, tactics and plenty of running around plus the added advantage of tiring them out! Under 9/10's, Under 11 and Under 12's From under 9's onwards contact rugby is introduced with great emphasis on safety. Using mouthguards and concentrating on how to tackle and instilling confidence individuals flourish. Experienced coaches add to the mix with individual and team development throughout the playing season, never easy but always worthwhile! Juniors Under 14's Bigger, faster but more disiplined and challenging to coach.
